Whether you’re after a sprinkling of fairytale magic, a rustic country feel, or a laid-back beachy vibe, Motueka’s latest pool event is offering a Valentine’s Day backdrop to suit any mood.
The Motueka saltwater baths seafront will be awash with family-friendly Valentine’s Day enchantment on Saturday evening, with the community invited to enjoy the free event.
Motueka event planning and party hire business Blissful Events is curating a dozen picnic blankets with cushions and ornaments.
Couples and families are welcome to bring a picnic, settle in on any blanket that takes their fancy, soak up the early evening atmosphere and enjoy a high tide swim.
Motueka New World is providing alcohol-free drinks for sale, with proceeds supporting Motueka’s aquatic centre fundraising. Nearby, Estuary Ice Cream will also be open extended hours, offering a little Valentine’s flourish.
The scene will be set from 5pm on Saturday, 14 February, running until 9pm.
“I love how it’s going to be supporting the community,” says Blissful Events owner Keisha Brown. “That makes me happy.”
The event, dubbed the Valentine’s Day Double Dip, is raising awareness for the ongoing aquatic centre project, with plans to be announced in the coming months and construction scheduled to begin next year.
The community has already raised $1.1m of its $4.4m goal towards the pool’s establishment, and aquatic centre committee member Ross Loveridge says the event is a way of celebrating the fundraising efforts to date, as well as providing a space for the community to “relax with your loved ones”.
