A Nelson mum died in a crash in Hurunui on Friday that also injured three others.
Police confirmed on Friday that one person had died in the SH7 crash, that was reported around 6.40am.
"Despite best efforts by emergency services sadly one person died at the scene," police said on Friday.
They confirmed that another person was seriously injured and two others were moderately injured.
TopSouthNow understands the woman who died was a local Nelson mum, after the school sent an email to parents on Monday.
The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
