If you have been meaning to get down to Zappekin gallery before the season ends, you’re on the clock! The Mariri gallery will shut its doors for the summer season on Tuesday, 10 March, after what the artists are calling a strong and satisfying run. Zappekin is a collective of 10 artists, and Bee Young, known as Potterbee, says it is a “nice community of people” to work alongside.
Fellow artist Mary Ellen Childers, whose artist name is Super Hands, says the early summer flush of Kiwis on holiday has moved on, with international visitors keeping the momentum going. She says there are new pieces arriving at the gallery every few days, and because so many works are bespoke, it is worth another look even if people visited earlier in the season.
