Thousands of tamariki aged six to 15 - and their supporters - will turn Tāhunanui Reserve red, white, and blue this morning for the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon.
Last-minute preparations are in fine fettle before kids have a go at swimming at the beach, cycling round the surrounding streets, before running to the inflatable chute finish line where they’ll don their medals.
Some are making the smart move by having the breakfast the rite-of-passage event is named after.
The first wave of kids set off at 9am.
Multiple roads near the course are closed until 1:30pm, and eBus Route 4 will detour down Muritai St, with bus stops on Golf Rd closed for the day.

Full event coverage will appear in this week’s editions.
