
The Motueka Arts Council’s summer workshops are underway, but people are being urged to stop twiddling their paintbrushes and get booking if they want the line-up to go ahead.
This is the first time the arts council has held a summer series alongside its long-standing winter workshops, and coordinator Julienne Dickey is keen to see the programme continue. Feedback has been that it is wonderful to have art opportunities that can take place outdoors, she says.
The Printing with Nature workshop, held in Thorp Bush in late February, was booked out. Local artist Sue Thorp encouraged participants to forage for natural objects to use as stamps, with leaves, ferns, bark, seedpods, flowers and feathers all making their way to the rollers. The group wrapped up the session with ink-stained hands and several masterpieces each.
