A $40,000 Toyota Yaris hybrid is a particularly good incentive to have a great day on the green for golfers taking part in this weekend’s Rotary Club of Motueka Ambrose Tournament.
The event is being held this Sunday, 15 March, with all 32 team spots selling out well in advance. It is a Rotary fundraiser for the Motueka indoor aquatic centre campaign, with the car donated by Bowater Toyota. Local branch salesperson Craig Allott says chief executive Tony Bowater is keen to support local ventures.
One specific hole will be eligible for the car, but organiser Paul Heywood says its location will remain a secret until the moment someone secures the win. Should no one land a hole-in-one, there is a guaranteed prize of the use of a Toyota vehicle for four weeks for the nearest to the pin shot.
None of the pictured trio rated their own chances of hitting a hole-in-one, with aquatic centre committee chairperson Ross Loveridge dubbing himself a “value-for-money golfer” who gets a lot of swings per hole.
The possibility exists for the tournament’s participants, however, with Paul saying that “all good things happen in Motueka”.
