A record turnout at the Golden Bay Rodders car show has delivered a 1000 dollar boost for Motueka Riding for the Disabled.
The annual event at Marchwood Park drew a bumper crowd, with 237 cars on display. Organisers say it was the biggest year yet, both in numbers and gate donations.
Interim Motueka RDA president Alicia Ridgen expressed gratitude for the support, telling the Rodders that, as a charitable trust, they rely on people like them.
Alicia says the money will likely go towards horse care, with vet bills and hoof trimming among the group’s regular expenses. They look after the horses well, she says, but it is costly.
Motueka RDA currently has 50 children on its books who take part in therapeutic riding sessions with its seven horses.
Sessions are held on Tuesday to Thursday mornings, and the organisation is always looking for more volunteers to help continue the work.
