Wanderers Motueka Wolves celebrate winning the Nelson Cricket T20 competition at Saxton Oval on Saturday.
After scrapping into the semifinals in 4th place, Wanderers Motueka bashed top qualifiers Stoke Nayland into submission in the morning at Marsden Rec, before heading to Saxton to take on Wakatu in the afternoon.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Wanderers made 142 on the back of skipper Mike Olsen’s patient 62. Wakatu were briefly in the hunt at 85-2, but a flurry of wickets as the run rate increased saw them dismissed for 109.
The final bookends the premier cricket season for 2025/26, with the second-grade final this weekend the last match across all adult grades.
