UPDATE: SH6 is now fully OPEN following the prior southbound closure.
State Highway 6 south of the Beach Rd intersection at Tāhunanui is closed to southbound traffic due to a two-vehicle crash.
Police received reports of the incident at around 3:30pm this afternoon and says all occupants are out of their vehicles and tow wagons have been requested.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the area until the vehicles have been cleared.
NZTA Waka Kotahi says northbound lanes remain open and advises travellers to take extra care and expect delays on the route.
