Police and emergency services were called to a two-car crash in Stoke early on Friday afternoon with one person being taking to Nelson Hospital in a serious condition.
Police were notified at 12.55pm that two vehicles had collided at the intersection of Main Rd Stoke and Bishops Way.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson says they sent one rapid response unit and one ambulance to the scene.
Ambulance staff treated one patient and transported them to Nelson Hospital in a serious condition, they confirmed.
Fire units from Stoke and Nelson also attended.
The crash partially blocked the road for a short time, causing some disruption to traffic, though the scene was cleared before 2pm.
