Basketball fans across New Zealand will be able to watch every domestic game live and free in one place from 2027, following a new broadcast agreement between Sky and Basketball New Zealand.
The extended partnership will see all matches from Sal’s National Basketball League, G.J. Gardner Homes Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa and the Rapid League streamed live and free-to-air on ThreeNow. Games will also continue to be available on Sky Sport and Sky Sport Now.
It is the first time every domestic competition run by Basketball New Zealand will be accessible live and free in one place.
Belinda Edwards, chief executive of Basketball New Zealand, says the move is a major step for the sport.
“Our domestic competitions are the shop front of our sport, showcasing incredible basketball talent. Making our competitions more available to more New Zealanders is a significant step forward for the game and, in an evolving broadcast landscape, reflects the growing demand and momentum behind basketball in Aotearoa,” Belinda says.
The expanded coverage begins in 2027 and includes every game across the men’s and women’s national leagues, along with the Rapid League.
Nelson Giants head coach Mike Fitchett welcomes the announcement, saying it reflects the sport’s rising profile.
The move “is another example of the rapid growth and interest in basketball in New Zealand,” Mike says.
