A colourful fundraiser involving running, powder paint and plenty of slime has brought Enner Glynn School closer to a new playground.
The school’s colour run held late last month raised $18,000, with the money going towards replacing playground equipment removed at the end of last year.
Principal John O’Regan says the old playground was about 30 years old and had become a “safety concern”.
Since its removal, the space has been left as a “big pile of bark” while plans for a replacement get under way.
The school is aiming to raise $100,000 for the project, with hopes work will begin by the end of the year.

Student councillors are playing a key role in shaping the new playground, visiting other schools and local play spaces to gather ideas for the 18m by 18m site.
John says the colour run was a first for the school, and while students enjoyed being showered in colour, another activity proved even more popular – pouring buckets of slime over their principal and teachers.
“I was in the fortunate position to get two buckets poured on me,” John quips. “It was a bit cold down the back.”
Alongside the colour run, the school is applying for grants, and a quiz night is also on the cards.

John thanked the sponsors and supporters who helped make the fundraiser a success.
“It is hugely appreciated.”
