Eloise Nicolson, Abigail Clark, Fleur Fraser and Sofia Ilton, all 11, have been working on the William Pike Challenge since the start of the year. The classmates say they need to complete 20 hours of community service and 20 hours on a passion project, as well as undertaking five outdoor activities.
Eloise explains that William Pike was a courageous man who lost his leg while climbing a mountain.
Fleur adds that he “always looked on the bright side of life”.
The challenge has been running since 2010, with the founder aiming to help young people build 21st century skills by stepping outside their comfort zone to achieve and experience new things.
Sunday marked part of the girls’ community service work, with sales of biscuits, lemonade, jewellery and trinkets raising more than $130.
