Police have arrested a woman following an investigation into the importation and supply of class B drugs in the Nelson area.
Detective Sergeant Glen Lindup of the Nelson Bays Organised Crime Unit says officers, with support from the Police Prevention Team, Nelson Criminal Investigations Branch and Customs, executed a search warrant at a Redwood Valley address.
The warrant was linked to the alleged importation and supply of GBL.
A 36-year-old woman was arrested and is due to appear in Nelson District Court on 15 June. She faces charges of importing GBL, possession of GBL for supply, and possession of methamphetamine.
GBL, also known as Fantasy, Liquid Ecstasy, Gina, or Waz, acts as a potent central nervous system depressant when ingested. Upon consumption, the body almost immediately converts GBL into GHB. It is known for its euphoric, sedative, and libido-enhancing effects.
Police and Customs say they have no tolerance for this type of offending and will continue to work together to investigate the importation and supply of illicit drugs in the Nelson area.
Anyone with information about the importation or supply of drugs is urged to call 111 if it is happening now, or contact Police on 105 for non-urgent information, either online or by phone.
Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
