The Nelson Cricket Association general manager has been seconded to a newly-created role – Nelson and Marlborough regional manager – covering both associations under the Central Districts umbrella.
Jake Inwood is staying at his Nelson base but will spend time in Blenheim. The role is being trialled for the next 12 months with an opportunity to extend.
“It is logical to start resource sharing, especially given how hard it is to secure community sport funding. It is an exciting model,” says Jake, who has been running the show in Nelson for the past two years.
The NCA says he has performed to a very high standard - working hard to bring international cricket back to Nelson, launching indoor cricket at the Saxton facility and getting behind the machine ball cricket youth programme launched by Chris Cairns and Garry MacDonald.
Both cricket associations will be working closely together while keeping their own identities.
The Marlborough Cricket Association general manager Ed Gilhooly retired earlier this year after 18 years in the job.
