Went like hot cakes and the funds produced have now rolled in for a local aquatic conservation group.
Buoyed by a term one snorkel at Cable Bay and the Horoirangi Marine Reserve, Auckland Point School’s Trafalgar Class held a recent bake sale at the Nelson Markets with the cherry on top a fundraised $570 boost for Tasman Bay Guardians to support ongoing marine protection.
The class also created informative displays and posters for the stall and sold narrative stories about fish and why plastic is a sea scourge, for the public to gain a deeper understanding of how marine reserves benefit marine life.
Whānau were acknowledged for supporting the bake sale, along with Nelson Market owner Nita Knight, who donated the class’s market site.
