More than 200 runners lined up for the 2026 Nelson Marathon on Saturday.
The event returned with a heavy frost, but beautiful day, after wet weather washed it out last year.
Defending champion Matthew Moloney retained his title, cutting out the 42.2kms in two hours 39minutes and 28seconds, just over two minutes slower than his time in 2024.
Another prominent local long-distance runner, Clinton Manderson, was four minutes back in second place.
Teenager Mia Piggon won the female section in 3hrs 18m346s and was fifth overall.
The track saw participants run along the Waimea Estuary before finishing at Rabbit Island.
