Nelson-based company Goover says it has developed a world-first e‑bike rack that removes the need for riders to lift their bikes when loading.
The Goover Lift-Free E‑Bike Rack is designed to tackle a major issue for e‑bike users, allowing bikes to be loaded without heavy lifting.
“There are more than 100 million riders over the age of 50,” says Goover founder Frank Witowski, “many of whom struggle with lifting heavy electric bikes onto traditional transport racks. But this innovation isn’t only for them, it’s for everyone who wants to enjoy their cycling.”
Despite advances in e‑bike technology since the 1990s, Frank says transporting them has remained difficult.
“Until now, loading an e‑bike has remained a heavy, awkward, and often unsafe task for many riders. Even riders who invested in premium, lighter carbon‑fibre bikes still had to load 25–35 kg frames onto high-mount racks. I’ve seen that issue firsthand and it was a problem I wanted to solve.”
Frank is also the founder of award winning business Hybrid Bikes and has spent nearly a decade designing custom carbon‑fibre e‑bikes. He says many of his customers, particularly those aged over 50, shared the same frustration.
“Some riders told me that they avoided long-distance trips altogether because of this barrier. That’s not good enough. I knew the industry needed a mechanical breakthrough to do something about that.”
The idea came after a friend introduced him to a unique coupling system, which sparked the concept behind the rack. After 18 months of design, development, and testing, starting in his Stoke garage and expanding to a manufacturing facility in China, the product was ready.
The Goover Lift-Free Rack has since passed E‑Mark and ECER026 Europe bike rack testing standards, validating its engineering and safety performance.
It has also gained international recognition, with Frank receiving the Global Business Innovation Excellence Award 2026 from The Enterprise World magazine.
“Goover’s patented lift‑free system changes the game entirely,” Frank says. “It’s a true reinvention of the e‑bike rack. It’s simple and completely unique to the market.”
