Nightworks on key Richmond routes will begin this weekend as part of investigations for the Hope Bypass project, with motorists advised to expect temporary disruptions.
From Sunday, 19 July, contractors will survey stormwater and sewer infrastructure along State Highway 6, Gladstone Rd, McGlashen Ave, Lower Queen St and Stratford St.
Work will take place Sunday to Thursday nights, between 8pm and 5.45am, from Sunday, 19 July until Thursday, 6 August.
The investigations form part of detailed design work for the Hope Bypass, with the identification of existing underground infrastructure described as critical.
Work is being carried out at night to reduce traffic impacts, and no significant delays are expected.
While no road closures are planned, drivers should expect turning restrictions, lane closures and diversions at various sites as work progresses. Temporary 30kmh speed limits will also be in place at survey locations.
All diversions will be signposted, and contractors will be onsite to help guide road users.
Businesses will remain open, with carparks available during standard hours. Resident access will also be maintained. Footpaths may be affected in some areas and will be clearly marked.
The work is being coordinated with Tasman District Council, with information gathered supporting upcoming council stormwater and wastewater upgrades in the area from early August.
