It was golden oldie central at a private Hope airstrip on Sunday as motoring and aviation enthusiasts schmoozed over a social barbeque.
Fourteen microlight planes from Nelson Tasman landed in five-minute intervals from 9am, with their pilots from the Nelson Microlight Club showcasing why they deserve a medal for their parking.
Parked up nearby were members of the Nelson Jaguar Drivers Club who drove the event, and by 10am the chinwags were in fine fettle.
Nelson Microlight Club acting president Jeff Jordan says the occasion was purely to propel both clubs' membership.
“This joint meeting is meeting the objectives of both clubs, and if nothing else, it's just a tremendous opportunity for fellowship and chatting with other people who are interested in these various modes of transport,” he says.
