Kūmānu will continue maintaining Tasman’s public spaces until 2029 after securing a two-year extension to its contract with Tasman District Council.
Kūmānu’s open spaces team helps keep parks, reserves, sports fields, playgrounds, cemeteries, public toilets, community housing and council buildings safe, functional and ready for those who use them.
That work will continue under the extended Reserves and Facilities Maintenance Contract, which was due to expire in July 2027 but will now run through to July 2029.
Kūmānu has managed the contract since 2013, delivering services across Richmond, Moutere-Waimea, Motueka, Golden Bay and Murchison.
Chief executive Lindsay Coll says the extension reflects the Tasman team’s consistent delivery and the strong working relationship with Tasman District Council.
“This is a great outcome for us. It reinforces that our relationship-centric approach, backed by trusted delivery, is sought after in the market,” he says.
“Credit must go to our people. They have consistently delivered value for our client, kept looking at where we can work smarter, taken cost out where we can, and built capability within the crew. That matters on a public contract, where the focus is on delivering good value and looking after the spaces communities use every day.”
The Tasman team delivers a range of services under the contract, including turf care, sports field preparation, mowing, irrigation, seasonal renovation, parks and reserves maintenance, facilities maintenance, arboriculture, cleaning, pest plant control, reporting and day-to-day problem solving.
Tasman District Council group manager customer and community, John Ridd, says that the council values the longstanding partnership with Kūmānu.
“Council appreciates Kūmānu’s collaborative approach and looks forward to continuing to work together to deliver effective and efficient reserves and facilities services for the Tasman community,” he says.
Kūmānu says the extension provides continuity for the council while supporting staff retention, local knowledge and growth pathways within the team.
