New World Stoke has opened the doors to its newly redeveloped store space, marking a major milestone in the supermarket’s multi-stage transformation.
Customers were welcomed into the new section of the store last Tuesday, with Nelson Mayor Nick Smith joining owner-operator Brendon Rae and the New World Stoke team to celebrate the milestone.
The opening followed a huge effort from the store team, who worked late into the night to move products, relocate electronic shelf labels, set up pricing and prepare the new checkouts ahead of welcoming customers.
Brendon says the team are thrilled to finally share the new space with the Stoke community.
“Seeing customers walk through the doors today and hearing their feedback has been fantastic. The team has put in an incredible effort to get everything ready, and we’re really pleased with how smoothly the move has gone,” he said on opening day.
“This redevelopment has always been about creating a better shopping experience for our customers and today is an exciting step towards delivering that.”
The new store features an improved layout, wider aisles, brighter environment and expanded fresh food areas.
Nick was on hand to serve the first customer and said the redevelopment was a significant investment in the Stoke community.
“It’s great to see a local business investing in its community and creating a modern shopping environment for locals. This is a positive milestone for Stoke and the wider Nelson region.”
With stage two now complete, the focus moves to the final stage of the redevelopment. Demolition of the remaining section of the original store has begun and then the final extension can be constructed, which will connect with the newly opened space and complete the store’s new design.
The full redevelopment is expected to be completed in December, delivering a larger, more modern supermarket with improved facilities and an enhanced shopping experience for the Stoke community.
