Tasman District Council is selling a Richmond property it purchased last year after completing work to secure land for a new footpath.
The council bought the property at 3 Paton Rd in June 2025 for $750,000 after previous attempts to negotiate the purchase of only a strip of land from the owner were unsuccessful.
A council spokesperson said the property was bought to secure the land needed for the footpath project, which has now been completed.
The remaining property, an 838-square-metre corner section with a three-bedroom home, has been put on the market with an asking price of $599,000.
