Richmond Hire has been named the best hire company in New Zealand, taking out a national industry award that recognises service, resilience and strong community connections.
The Beach Rd business won the Hire Company of the Year award for companies with turnover of up to $5 million at the Hire Industry Association of New Zealand Excellence Awards earlier this month.
Judges praised the independently owned business for embodying the values at the heart of the hire industry.
“Humbleness, high levels of resilience, enormous pride in presentation, strong customer relationships and genuine community involvement, the company has built a reputation founded on service, reliability and trust earned over time. Their success demonstrates that hire excellence is not defined by being the biggest, but by the reputation, commitment and relationships built within the communities they serve.”
Business owners Wayne and Karen Gardiner along With Alexa and Kevin Harris started the business from scratch in 2009.
Since then, they have built up a loyal customer-base and kept their gear in tip-top shape, something that the judges picked up on Wayne reckons.
“You don’t have to be the biggest, it doesn’t matter.”
Alexa says the longevity of the business is something they are all proud of, as well as remaining locally owned and operated.
