A month-long raffle to plugany potential funding leaks for the organisation which provides end-of-life and specialist palliative care all under one roof is now in full flow.
Ultimate Roofing office manager Brad Welch, with support from Freeman Roofing and Waimea Scaffolding, has installed the initiative for Nelson Tasman Hospice, and for the lucky winner, they won’t be feeling gutted by the raffle prize package.
That prize in the pipeline, available for a single-storey residential property in Nelson, Atawhai, Wakefield or Motueka, is existing external gutters being stripped, where applicable, and up to 50 metres of Freeman Roofing Quad or Box Gutter, and new Colorsteel downpipes supplied and installed.
Any scaffolding required for the work will be provided by Waimea Scaffolding.
Ultimate Roofing owner James MacKenzie says the organisation who would benefit from this raffle had to be Nelson Tasman Hospice after his back-to-back involvement in the Mowsworth Rampage fundraiser.
“They're just amazing, wonderful people, and the job that they do is amazing, helping so many people and so many families going through something that’s obviously pretty tough,” he enthuses.
“We wanted to put together something substantial that could make a real difference to someone's home, while supporting an organisation that makes such an important contribution to our community.
“Guttering might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a raffle prize, but it is something every homeowner needs and it can be a significant expense.”
Around $4000, according to James, making the prize attractive for homeowners.
Raffle tickets can be purchased through Ultimate Roofing, Freeman Roofing, Coman Construction, Richmond Glass and Nelson Tasman Hospice until 7 October, and is open only to Nelson Tasman residents aged 18 and over.
Tickets can also be picked up at the Nelson Home & Garden Show later this month.
The winner will be drawn on 12 October and that person may nominate their own eligible property or another eligible residential property for the raffle prize package, with the property owner's consent.
