Everything was on track at a weekend event epitomising boys and their toys.
The biennial Nelson Model Railway Show at Warnes Stadium in Stoke had a record 20 exhibits from Nelson and visiting Wellington, Christchurch, Kaikōura, Ashburton, Timaru, Invercargill model railway clubs.
There were interactive displays, including a Thomas & Friends-themed layout, sales tables and expert advice helped visitors get on board with the hobby, or perhaps the artform, were also full steam ahead.
Conductor of the show and member of the Nelson Model Railway Club, Ian McEwan, was chuffed with the outcome, particularly given Nelson isn’t somewhere commuters mind the gap between the train and the platform.
