Police released the name of the woman who died following a firearms incident in Tahunanui last Friday.
She was 48-year-old Nicola Yvonne Perry.
Police are providing wrap-around support to her loved ones at this difficult time.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident remain ongoing.
Nicola's family released this statement via police:
"Nicola's family wish to sincerely thank the local Nelson community that have gone above and beyond to help during this incredibly difficult time.
"The family will not be providing further comment and ask that their privacy be respected as they grieve."
