An upcoming jigsaw showdown might just be the perfect fit for anyone who knows the intense satisfaction of clicking that last piece into place.
The free event, held at Te Noninga Kumu-Motueka District Library on Friday 25 September at 10am, will see competitors race to assemble a supplied 500-piece puzzle, working either solo or in pairs.
You do not need to be a jigsaw extraordinaire to join in, however. Branch librarian Janine Gillions says the event is open to puzzle enthusiasts of all experience levels.
She speaks of the mindfulness and meditative qualities of the pastime, adding that participants can also look forward to a cup of tea and a biscuit to keep their energy levels steady while they work.
The library has purchased six new, vibrantly patterned puzzles for competitors choose from. The facility already has several dozen 1000 and 1500-piece puzzles which can be borrowed at any time, for free.
A second jigsaw showdown will be held on Tuesday, 29 September, beginning at 1.30pm. No registration is required for either session, with participants able to simply turn up on the day.
