Thousands of books will soon fill the Hope Hall for the annual Helping Families Nelson book fair.
The two-day book fair will be held 3-4 October, and volunteer Sandy Hodgson says there are enough books to fill the hall, with everything from children’s favourites through to recent novels and practical guides.
Alongside the books are toys and puzzles – and every puzzle has been checked to ensure there are no missing pieces.
Sandy says it is a popular event, and volunteers are anticipating a busy weekend, especially on opening morning.
“The first half of the day is chaos – it’s crazy.”
She says more and more books are donated each year and the public’s enthusiasm for selecting some new books to take home is as strong as ever.
Fiction and children’s books are still the most popular, including old favourites such as Dr. Seuss, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and Footrot Flats.
