There was a spicy atmosphere in the mild weather at the fourth serving of the Indian Food Festival.
Held at Saxton Oval Pavilion on Sunday by Experience India, it was an ideal day for warming curries and rice dishes, samosas and traditional sweet treats, with a resplendent entertainment programme.
The event’s lead, Anjali Puri, was deeply impressed with the high numbers of non-Indian festivalgoers.
“It always happens with us at our festival, and that's a good boost for the Indian community to come out rather than being in their own bubble,” she enthuses.
“Those performing our Bollywood and Indian songs are all Kiwis and non-Indian people in the group, it’s a big plus for me.”
