The Tasman Rugby Union has confirmed its losing both Havili brothers to Japanese club rugby.
Former captain David debuted in 2014 and leaves as the Mako’s leading try scorer, for now, with 29 in his 90 matches.
The 31-year-old utility back amassed 199 points in his provincial career.
While the former All Blacks’ departure was well signposted, William has also negotiated a Japanese club deal after his previous outfit Moana Pasifika folded following the 2026 Super Rugby competition.
The 28-year-old Tongan first five and occasional fullback, who played his first match in 2018, scored 304 points in his 44 games.
Also going to Japan is Crusaders lock Antonio Shalfoon who signed with the Mako in 2020.
Injury sidelined him that first season, but he went on to play 39 matches, becoming a key figure in the pack.
There are also three departures from the TRU board.
As indicated earlier this year, chairman Wayne Young and director Tony Healey will finish up following the regular board meeting at the end of this month.
The pair returned to the board last year, leading the revamp.
Also leaving is Blenheim accountant Michael Parker who joined the board last year.
Work commitments have been cited for his withdrawal.
Meanwhile the vacant TRU Chief Executive role has been advertised on Seek, carrying a salary of $150,000+.
