Ghosts, goblins and little monsters are invited to take over Richmond’s Washbourn Gardens this Halloween, with a free afternoon of spooky surprises, sweet treats and family fun.
Harcourts Ghosts & Goblins returns on Thursday, 29 October, bringing one of Richmond’s favourite family events back to the gardens from 4pm to 6pm.
Richmond Unlimited coordinator Maria Ingram says the Oxford St gardens have proved a great fit for the event, which is being held there for the second time.
“It is a fantastic location and works really well to create a great environment for the event.”
Families can follow the winding trick-or-treat trail, with plenty to discover along the way. Face painting, a bouncy castle, giant bubbles, entertainers and stilt walkers will add to the atmosphere, while food stalls, including Mr Whippy, will keep everyone fuelled for the afternoon.
“It is a really amazing event. We had about 2000 people attend last year, it was brilliant. Everyone had so much fun.”
Hosted and supported by Harcourts Nelson and Richmond and Richmond Unlimited, the free event offers families a chance to enjoy Halloween together.
Children are encouraged to dress up in their spookiest or silliest costumes, whether they fancy themselves a witch, ghost, monster or superhero. There will also be spot prizes and a colouring competition to get creative little hands involved.
“Colouring competition forms can be downloaded from the Richmond Unlimited Facebook page or collected on the day. Completed entries can then be dropped off at the Harcourts Richmond office to go in the draw,” Maria says.
With two hours of Halloween fun on offer, families are encouraged to dust off their costumes, gather the little ghosts and goblins, and head into the heart of Richmond for a frightfully good afternoon.
The event is weather permitting, with any cancellation announcements to be made via social media.
