A local business networking group have hit a royal flush with their fundraising event tripling its target.
High Stakes for Hospice at the Nelson Yacht Club last month aimed to raise $10k for Nelson Tasman Hospice, instead raising almost $32,000.
Keegan Murphy, Tanya McMurtrie, Jenna-Wayde Poilly and Nick Walter from local BNI Hive Mind Connections managed to sell more than 130 tickets to the casino night event.
Six big ticket auction items, including a classic car tour, Port Nelson tugboat ride, Mako and Giants VIP package, weekend in Kaiteriteri, and a helicopter ride for six, joined the oodles of items they had had donated for gift baskets to auction off.
“Just about every business we asked gave us something,” Tanya says.
The organising group wanted to give a special shout out to McCashins, Allan Scott Family Winemakers, Flaxmore Vineyards, Super Liquor, Seifrieds, Southern Star Lodge alongside its international members, Nelson Yacht Club and Rotary Club of Whakatū, who provided the casino games.
