SIATKOWSKI, Raymond Edward (BEE, ME, DMD)

Passed away in Nelson, New Zealand. Raymond was a loved brother of Ed; loved uncle of Kristen and Mark, Andrea and Parker, Jed and Jenny and loved by his extended family.

Raymond was an engineer, dentist, and orthodontic researcher known for applying engineering principles to orthodontic appliance design. He gained his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BEE) — at Cornell University (1964). Later completing a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He also earned a Master of Engineering (ME), further strengthening his background in applied mechanics and design. One of his major research efforts involved the design and optimization of orthodontic loop systems used for closing spaces between teeth during treatment. This work was conducted at the University of Otago in New Zealand during the mid-1990s after moving to New Zealand in 1994.

Raymond loved and enjoyed the bird life, sailing and the natural untouched outdoor spaces that New Zealand provided for him.

At Raymonds request, a graveside service will be held at the Marsden Valley Cemetery, 11am on Thursday March 12, in the Natural Burial Area – all are welcome.
