HEDDLE-BAKER, Simon Bruce

Died peacefully on Monday, 24 August 2026, aged 55 years, at Nelson Tasman Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.

Much loved husband of Kate. The best dad to Alastair and Olive who were his whole world and the reason he fought so hard to stay. Beloved big brother of Emma and her husband Daniel Crabb, and treasured son of Ken and Dee Baker.  Simon also held his wider family in the UK and Denver so very close, family was precious to him.

Much loved son-in-law of Lorraine, and the late Ed Lukey. Fantastic brother-in-law of Mason and Rebecca Lukey and loved uncle of Cameron and Petra.

Simon fought glioblastoma with extraordinary courage for two and a half years. Our heartfelt thanks to the team at Nelson Tasman Hospice for their compassion and care and Nelson Oncology services for supporting us throughout.

The funeral service will be held at Shone and Shirley Funeral Directors, 164 Tāhunanui Drive, Tāhunanui, Nelson, on Wednesday, 2 September 2026 at 10am. An electronic donations box will be available at the service for those wishing to donate to Nelson Tasman Hospice.
