Passed away peacefully in Nelson surrounded by family on Thursday September 24, 2026.

Best friend of his wife Carmen, loved Dad of Cherie and Michael Ashby, Jason and Kylie, Renee and Steven, treasured Gramps of Chantelle, and Laeticia Ashby; Caitlyn, Amber, and Zachary.

A memorial service for Barrie will be held at the Ilam Adventist Church, 26 Ilam Road, Upper Riccarton, Christchurch at 7pm on Wednesday 7^th October.
