Onekaka, Tasman
$3,500,000 +
Set in the heart of Golden Bay, this remarkable coastal landholding offers an almost unmatched connection to the water, with nearly a kilometre of frontage spanning the Onekakā River, the estuary, and an ocean beach. Few properties can claim such diversity of natural boundaries — freshwater, tidal waterways and open sea, creating a setting of exceptional beauty, privacy and scale. This is a place where land and water meet in harmony, offering an enviable lifestyle today and compelling long-term potential for the future. At the centre of the property sits a substantial five-bedroom, three-bathroom home, thoughtfully arranged over two levels. Generous in proportion and rich in character, the residence is well suited as a permanent family home, a coastal retreat, or accommodation to support future plans. The home has been carefully modernised over time, with all improvements completed under full council consent, ensuring peace of mind alongside comfort. Large windows throughout capture ever-changing outlooks, from the calm estuary waters and open coastline to distant ranges — creating a strong sense of connection to the surrounding landscape. Expansive decks extend the living spaces outdoors, providing the perfect vantage point to entertain, relax and take in Golden Bay’s renowned sunsets. The land itself is a defining feature: flat, elevated and beautifully positioned to maximise sun, views and access to the water. This combination is exceptionally rare and underpins the property’s enduring value. With extensive water frontage, the property lends itself to a wide range of lifestyle pursuits; boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, or simply enjoying the tranquility of living beside the river, estuary and sea. The property is currently set up as a boutique golf course, adding an established recreational and income-generating dimension. However, this is just one of many possible uses for the land. Its scale, outlook and infrastructure provide flexibility for a range of future directions, whether that be continuing the golf operation, enhancing it with complementary accommodation, or exploring alternative lifestyle or tourism opportunities, subject to the appropriate consents. Supporting infrastructure includes a substantial three-bay barn suitable for vehicles, boats, machinery or workshop use, along with a reliable water supply from rainwater collection and a stream source, offering flexibility year-round. This is a truly special holding; a property of presence, history and natural beauty, where the true value lies in the land, the water and the freedom to shape what comes next. Opportunities to secure a coastal property of this caliber, in such a prized Golden Bay location, are exceptionally rare and tightly held.
