WAA! 183 Bridge Street, Nelson
Wellington south coast singer-songwriter Hanne Jøstensen’s delicate and stirring songs carry a beautiful sense of intimacy, stillness and emotional depth. Her intricate second EP ‘The Lighthouse’, released in autumn 2026, reached #10 on the Aotearoa Album Chart and spent three weeks in the top 20. Hanne's music navigates her unique upbringing on a tiny Norwegian island (where her grandfather was the lighthouse keeper), woven into modern day life on Aotearoa's wild south coast. She is celebrating the release of 'The Lighthouse' with a winter tour of up-close concerts in the lower north & the south.
“The Lighthouse is a thoughtfully and gracefully composed EP, with moments of breathtaking beauty.” - Peter K Malthus, Muzic.nz.
For this Whakatū Nelson concert, Hanne will be joined on stage by local artist Ira Gorse, a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter in their own right.
Singer, guitarist and indie artist Tasmin Prichard aka Ira Gorse kicked off with ‘Blue’, released in May 2026 and produced by Emerald Clark (Linen, Draghound). Previously playing drums and bass in Wellington bands Egovalve and Lilith, as Ira Gorse, Tasmin writes acoustic-driven alt-country/emo music and is influenced by artists like Jose Gonzales, Nick Drake, and Wednesday.
Whakatū Arts and Action - WAA! - is an exciting new venue built and run by the community, for the community, and easy to get to in the city centre.
