Magenta Creative Space, 15 Selwyn Place, Nelson
Join us on Thursday 28 August to launch our fundraising campaign. There'll be a DJ, kōrero from one of our artists on what Magenta means to them, and a few words from our board chair.
Then: the Grab & Go. Magenta artists and artists from across our community have each made an original work in their own style and donated it to us - a few names you might recognise. They'll be hanging on the gallery wall, and every one of them is $50 + whatever donation you'd like to add.
When it's gone, it's gone - grab it and go. Koha entry, all welcome. Come for the art, stay for the dancing, leave with something on your wall that keeps this place open.
For 25 years, Magenta Creative Space has been Whakatū Nelson's only free, walk-in, artist-led creative space - supporting artists navigating mental distress or social isolation, disabled artists, and rangatahi across our region to sustain a practice, exhibit work publicly, and find belonging in a creative community.
Keeping it that way costs money we don't currently have. We're facing a $30,000 annual shortfall this year. So we're doing something about it, and we'd like you there when we start.
Can't make it? You can still back us - our fundraising campaign is live until 30 September. See website for details via the "Get Tickets" link above.
