Reverie opens with a mesmerizing, atmospheric work that gently rocks between dream and reality - Hanna Kulenty’s A Cradle Song.
The shimmering textures of Adam Schoenberg’s Las Estrellas unfold into a celestial dance, while Leonard Bernstein’s youthful Piano Trio provides a taste of his early brilliance and quirky personality, foreshadowing the irrepressible energy of his later Broadway compositions.
A new NZTrio/SOUNZ Tarling Trust commission, Icarus on Titan from Karlo Margetič, situates the trio as explorers on an alien world, before entering a state of Romantic fervour with Schumann’s Piano Trio No. 3, which is brimming with lyrical expression.
